WOODLAND RETREAT

Originally the house was divided into two zones, with the staircase and the upstairs being entirely carpeted. We rebuilt the staircase and detailed it and the upper hallway with hardwood flooring using a wonderful finish that took weeks to achieve. In addition, we found these extremely modern supports and fashioned a handrail out of Douglas fir, echoing the millwork in the kitchen and the family room on the first floor. By extending the wood floor up the staircase and along the length of the gallery from which the family room and the kitchen are visible, the two floors of the home are now knit together. (2012-2013)
